Methodology

How the material is gathered, what we won't do to get it, and what to do if something here is wrong.

Where it comes from

Everything in a distillation is assembled from material a company has already published: pricing pages, product documentation, app store and marketplace listings, partner directories, press releases, job advertisements, and public discussion on forums and social platforms.

Every asserted claim carries the URL it came from and the date it was retrieved. Numbers carry the query that produced them. You can re-run any of it.

What we won't do

We don't circumvent access controls, defeat rate limits, or use credentials we weren't given. We don't access anything behind a paywall or a login that isn't ours. We don't republish source code.

Where a finding would require touching a company's systems to establish, we don't publish it.

What this is for

It helps you build a competitor. That is the stated purpose and we don't dress it up as anything else.

What it is not is a copy of anyone's software. There is no source code in the product and nothing that helps you reach any. What we publish is a description of what a product does, what it charges, how it reaches its users and where those users are unhappy — the same understanding a competitor or an analyst builds by hand, done systematically and kept current. Functionality isn't owned. A codebase is, and we don't have theirs.

Security

The security section is a baseline, not an audit. It is the same list for every company in a category, so it states a standard rather than scoring anyone against one, and there is no pass or fail column anywhere in the product.

Where we publish something we observed ourselves, it is behaviour reproducible on our own device with our own data, recorded with the product version, the platform, the date and the steps. We tell the vendor before we publish it. Anything that would need access we don't have goes to them privately and stays there.

Corrections and takedowns

If something here is wrong, tell us and we will fix it or remove it. If you are a company in the catalogue and you want a screenshot removed, ask and we will take it down while we discuss it.

Every claim is versioned and dated, so a correction is a visible change rather than a quiet edit.

Not affiliated

We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to any company in the catalogue. Product names and logos belong to their owners and are used to identify the products being described.
